The hunted hotel

Title: "The Haunting of Whispering Pines Inn" In the heart of a sleepy town nestled amidst dense woods, stood the Whispering Pines Inn, a grand edifice with a rich history dating back centuries. Once a thriving hub for travelers seeking respite, it now lay abandoned, its halls echoing with whispers of the past. Legend had it that a tragic love story unfolded within the walls of the inn. Long ago, a young couple, deeply in love, had checked into the inn, seeking refuge from a stormy night. But fate had other plans. A jealous suitor, consumed by envy, confronted the couple in a fit of rage. In the ensuing struggle, a fire erupted, engulfing the inn in flames. While the flames were extinguished, the memories lingered. Locals whispered of ghostly apparitions wandering the corridors, their footsteps echoing through the deserted halls. Some claimed to have heard the mournful wails of the doomed lovers, forever trapped within the inn's c...

A Ghost Story

Image
This is an edited part of the scene from the film ‘A Ghost story (2017)’ written & directed by David Lowery. There’s a strange eeriness to the film which encapsulates the essence of ‘being’, both on a macro level at the same time, a sort of larger context as well. And this scene, perhaps rather in a very self-aware and critical manner, addresses the dilemmas of what it means to lead a life and the pursuits it ensues. “A writer writes a novel. A songwriter writes a song. A symphonist writes a symphony…which is maybe the best example because all the best ones were written for God. So, tell me what happens if Beethoven’s writing his Ninth Symphony” and suddenly he wakes up one day and realizes that God doesn’t exist. So, suddenly all of these notes and chords and harmonies. That were intended to, you know, supersede the flesh, you realize, “Oh, that’s just physics.” So Beethoven says, “Shoot, God doesn’t exist, so I guess I’m writing this for other people. It’s just nuts and bol...

Bangladesh love story

Image
In a bustling city of Dhaka, amidst the cacophony of honking horns and vibrant streets, there blossomed a love story steeped in Bangla culture. Rahim, a young and ambitious architect, found himself captivated by the enchanting beauty of Nusrat, a talented artist who painted the world with her words and colors. Their paths crossed one sunny afternoon at a local art exhibition, where Rahim was instantly drawn to Nusrat's intricate paintings depicting the soul of Bangladesh. As they exchanged glances across the room, a silent understanding sparked between them, like two souls recognizing each other amidst the chaos of life. Their conversations flowed effortlessly, weaving dreams of a future filled with shared passions and adventures. Their love bloomed under the shade of ancient banyan trees in Lalbagh Fort, where they would steal moments away from the world, lost in each other's embrace. From savoring puchka on the streets of Old Dhaka to watching the sunset over the Buriganga ...

Ghost love story

Imagine finding the love of your life, the butterflies in your stomach, the intensity, the need, the constant non-stop thinking of them, wanting to be with them… knowing you just can’t live without them. Best feeling ever, right? These books HAVE that… that amazing romance love story that will make your heart ache in love-delight and devastation. Why? Because of a certain angsty twist. The impossibility of that kind of love with that particular person. ‘Cause what happens when the love of your life… is a ghost? *sigh* I always seem to fall for the love stories where the human falls for the ghost. Every time I see one of these angsty-sounding book blurbs, my HEART ACHES right on the spot. GOD I LOVE how the authors explore this subject. Because sometimes… there’s a solution. Whether it be a crazy plot twist that makes it feasible (*phew*), or finding each other in the “after”. Or maybe something “magical” that allows true love to actually “be” (even on “ghost” form). V and Ja...

Sad love story that will make you cry

“SAD LOVE STORY THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY” One random night he woke up. He was thinking about all things that have happened to him in the past few days. His girlfriend left a message saying “Sorry but our relationship is over”. He didn’t know how to react, because they were together for 3 years. He thought he did something wrong. To keep the negative thoughts away, he decided to go for a walk. He was walking in the park thinking about things he wanted to change in his life. Suddenly he saw his girl in the park. He went up to her. Boy: Hey, what’re you doing here? Girl: Oh…Hi I’m just sitting here. Boy: At 3:34 AM? Isn’t it too late? Girl: I know. Look I’m sorry I was stupid I never should have sent you that message. This is the place where we first kissed so I am here thinking about you because I can’t sleep. Boy: But why did you sent me such a message? Girl: Becaus...

A suspense love story

It’s almost laughable at this point that I’m still reviewing Laura Griffin books. I could save everyone time and just write a one-liner: great book, read it. I really  like   these   books . Deep Tide  focuses on a character I’ve really enjoyed in this series: Leyla Breda. Her brothers were the heroes in the other books and I enjoyed them when they found their HEAs, but in this one, they were often a little one dimensional with some macho protective stuff that I find repellant. Leyla is bracing, driven, shaken by the event at the start of the book (one of her employees is murdered while on shift), open and truly likable. Her love interest, FBI agent Sean Moran, is NOT all macho protective nonsense. Yes, he wants to protect her and take care of her, but first and foremost he adores her. He also doesn’t stand in her way when she wants to do things. It’s a careful balance that Leyla and Sean maintain. Sean is in town to very quietly investigate alleged criminals ...
